Meeting someone new should feel exciting, not risky. Here's how we protect you on the app, and how to protect yourself off it.
In an emergency
Always contact local emergency services first. In-app reporting is for platform safety — it is not an emergency channel.
What Orbit does
- Approximate location only. Other members see your city and a rough distance. Your exact coordinates are never shown or shared.
- Blocking is total.When you block someone, they disappear from your Orbit and you from theirs — discovery, matches, and messages. It's enforced on our servers, not just hidden on your screen.
- Reports are confidential. The person you report is never notified. Every report is reviewed.
- Adults only. Orbit is strictly 18+, validated at signup and enforced in our systems.
- Messaging requires a match. Nobody can message you unless you both chose each other.
Before you meet
- Keep conversations on Orbit until you trust the person.
- Video call before meeting — a five-minute call tells you a lot.
- Look them up. It's not snooping; it's sensible.
- Never send money or share financial details, no matter the story. Report anyone who asks.
When you meet
- Meet in a public place for the first few dates.
- Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Arrange your own transport there and back.
- Keep your phone charged, and your drink in sight.
- If something feels off, leave. You owe nobody an explanation.
If something goes wrong
Use Report on any profile or conversation — it takes under a minute and the other person never knows. For emergencies, always contact local emergency services first. You can also reach our safety team at safety@orbit.example.
